I laughed and emptied the contents of the tumbler into my mouth. I quickly started spluttering as the strong liquid rushed down my throat.

One of the agents passed me water and I gulped all of it, catching my breath slowly. "That's my girl." Roberts applauded. "Here, take another shot." Did she not see what just happened, I was on the brink of death. "No Roberts, I ca--"

"I'm not taking any no baby, when you go out with us you follow our rules so drink up otherwise you'll be bored." I sighed, taking the glass she handed me. Can this be considered peer pressure when I was literally being forced?

The night went by smoothly till it reached the part where I got so drank I couldn't even keep my eyes open. I had to rest my head on the table.

Roberts just kept on giggling beside me which was very annoying because all I wanted to do right now was sleep.

"Angel, Angel." Roberts called out, she was so hyper. I wonder if alcohol was the only thing she had. I slowly took my head off the table to glance at her.

"Shift your chair here, I have something to tell you." I slowly pushed next to her, laying my head on her chest.

Why was I was so tired?

Instantaneously, gunshots started firing in the club and I felt helpless because I was too exhausted to move a limb.

"Angel, no!" I heard Luke shout before someone pushed me off Robert's chest and unto the floor.

"Ouch." I gritted my teeth in pain when my butt hit the cold hard ground. The club was immediately quiet and the sounds of bullets were now the music playing in my ears. I heard a grunt from Agent Roberts before she landed on the floor beside me.

"Roberts." I called out in a whisper, shaking her still form.

My hands were stained with blood after I touched her. Panic set in me as I continued to lay low on the floor watching the body of Roberts.

The shooting went on for a long time before finally stopping. Someone pulled me up from the bloodied tile floor and carried me in bridal style out the club.

Trust me when I say what just happened knocked my drunken state out.

"Jon?" I asked when I saw that I was in his arms.

"Angel you're safe, try to calm down."

"Roberts is still in there, let's go get her." I stated, my eyes blurry. He nodded before turning his attention to some men beside him.

"Agents, try and recover her body from the club, we don't want any unwanted suspicions."

"Her body? She's also dead right?" I confirmed with a bitter face. Jon just looked at me, not uttering a word. They later returned with what I assumed was Roberts' body, draped in a large blanket.

"Agents, let's leave before the police arrive." Jon shouted to the other men and run to his car, dropping me in the back seat and proceeding to drive away from the scene.

"I'm taking you back to HQ, it's not safe at your house right now."

I didn't reply but instead hugged myself, rubbing my hand up and down my shoulder.

"You're cold, take my jacket and let me turn up the heat."

He removed his black jacket and threw it at me in the back, keeping his eyes on the road. I put on the jacket and pulled it closer when his cologne hit my nostrils. I rested my legs on the seat, leaning against the door to look around my setting.

It was very dark and the only thing that made it possible to see was the street lights along the street and the lights from individual cars.

I should have listened to Jon and not go to the club.

"Where's Luke, I didn't see him after you came for me." I said, breaking the silence.

  "He's with the other agents."

I nodded, letting out a breath of relief. "You owe him one though, he saved you."

So Luke was the one that pushed me to the floor when the shooting started, I couldn't thank him enough. We reached the headquarters and Jon came to get me out. He pulled my arm around his neck and held my waist making sure I didn't fall as we walked together.

He opened a familiar door and we both trudged in. It was where I stayed the last time when I slept over.

Jon released his hold on me and I stumbled over to the bed, falling back-first on it. I spread out my arms and legs, gazing at the ceiling in critical thought.

"Rest here, I'll see you tomorrow." Jon said, leaving.

  "Wait."

He paused at the doorway, turning to me. "Do you think Elsa and her parents are safe back home? What if they attack and you're men can't stop them?"

Jon moved closer to sit on the bed placing a hand on mine. "Angel,"

"I'm losing everybody around me Jon, everybody. If I lose Elsa too then I think my sanity will be lost."

"The man who tasked me to end your dad's life was also the one who tried to kill you at the club. He thinks you're a threat to him alive. You and our agents are his targets, not your friend." He assured, gripping my hand.

"But they'll kill anybody in their way to get me. That's what just happened and now Roberts is dead. I don't want to stay with Elsa and her mom again, I won't forgive myself if anything happens to them."

"No, trust me on this Angel. When you move from the house they'll suspect something and attack. Stay put, let them think they have everything in their hands and when it's time we'll turn the wheel."

  Blackhearts Inc, HQ.

"This is unacceptable! Three of our agents, dead!"

Jon sat quietly beside me with his head hung low. We were currently seated in a large conference room with other agents. Jon's father was busily lashing out in anger at what happened yesterday.

"That fool must pay, Jon what did you have in mind?"

Jon cleared his throat and stood up boldly.

"The man behind these attacks is heavily guarded and just trying to attack him would be a suicide mission."

"Who is this man Jon? You refused to tell since that day." He questioned.

  "Mayor Gustof."

  What the heck?

It was all making sense now. He had the perfect reason to kill my dad because he was competing against him for mayor this year. Jon turned to look at my reaction to what he said but I just kept a straight face.

"So what are we going to do now?"

"I advise that we wait and prepare for the day of elections, then we can head in and have our revenge. During that time, the security and men around him will be less dense."

"So where in your plan do you need her?" Jon's father asked, glancing at me.

"The mayor wants to kill her too so we can use her as bait and the right revenge fuel this plan needs."

"I didn't agree to be anyone's bait Jon." I voiced out, all eyes turning to me.

"Don't worry, Jon won't let anything happen to you. If we wanted you dead that would have happened a long time ago."

What just occurred at the club came into mind and I realised he wasn't lying — Luke saved my life, he could have just left me there to get shot. I blanked out for the rest of the meeting as they continued to talk about the rest of the plan, assigning agents for the task.

When the meeting finished, all the agents started dispersing from the large room. I sighted Jon and Luke talking a few steps behind me and rose from my chair to go speak with them.

  "Hey."

I greeted, approaching the duo. Luke stopped talking and turned to leave. "Wait, I wanted to thank you for saving my ass back at the club."

"I only did it because he wanted you alive." He replied, his eyes trained on Jon.

Why is he acting like this again? I thought we passed that phase but I was wrong.

"Don't worry about him, he's still bitter about the dead agents." Jon said.

"What about you? They were also your friends."

"It's saddening that I'll never see them again but this is not the first time I've lost a fellow agent, I just try to distract myself from reality."

"That must hurt you so much." I said.

"Time heals the pain Angel, let's go I have something planned for you." He said, taking the lead.

We walked for a few minutes and entered a large showroom with a lot of sleek cars. What was he up to now?

"Can you drive?" Jon asked, looking at the cars in pure glee.

"No, didn't bother to learn. My dad insisted on letting our driver take us everywhere."

  "Very well then, pick one."

"What? I should pick one of the cars?" I asked in astonishment. He didn't say anything and just kept looking at me, waiting for my option.

"Okay, I'll go with the white one at the corner. It's the only color that seems to contrast with people's attitude over here."

Jon grinned, walking over to the car to unlock it. I moved close to the car and observed its sleek features.

"So you're going to let me learn how to drive in this car?"

"No! Who said that?" Came his gruff reply. The nerve of this man!

"But you asked, okay forget it."

"Good, I can't let you destroy this car. Get in."

"Where are you taking me? Is it time to go home yet?"

"I'm taking you to my penthouse, I want to let you in on some of our secrets and I can't do this with nosy agents around us."

His penthouse? I started feeling nervous after he said that. What if something happens and I can't control myself from my intense carnal desires. I took a deep breath and entered his car silently hoping nothing happened between us there.

"Woah, that new car smell." I said, sniffing loudly. He gave me a strange look before pulling the car out of its parking position.

"I see you now got the courage to sit in the front with me." He said. I didn't even think about it, it was an unconscious decision.

"Well, you don't bite right?" I asked playfully. "That depends, do you want me to?"

"Wait! Are you flirting with me right now?" He smiled, still focused on the road. A comfortable silence ensued between us. He drove for several minutes until we reached an urban area with bustling streets surrounded by a lot of high rise buildings.

We later arrived and parked in front of a large apartment complex. We got down and I saw a middle-aged man walking up to us.

"Master Jon! It has been a while since we saw you here."

"Yes Roger, work has been keeping me really occupied lately. Here." He said, handing him his car keys.

"Take good care of it, she's a brand new one."

  "Yes sir."

  "Come on Angel, let's go."

I followed him and we took an elevator to his penthouse, stopping on the 25th floor. My jaw dropped to the ground as soon as we stepped inside. His luxurious penthouse was partially empty with large cardboard boxes packed around.

His suite displayed spectacular views of the busy city and the large bridge towering over the water on the east side.

  "Wow."

"Like it?" Jon asked proudly, walking in front of me. "I don't like it, I love it!"

"Good, because it was really expensive."

"Are you planning on moving in soon?" I said, gesturing to the boxes.

"I don't know, I want to be by my dad's side and give him all the support he needs but I also desire to have a place permanently."

"I guess time will tell then."

"Angelina, I have something to show you." He said, sitting on a bar-stool in front of the kitchen island.

I swear this guy drives me to the brink of orgasm every time he mentions my name. "What do you want to show me?" He handed me a folded paper.

  "What's this?"

I immediately opened it to see a rough sketch of a detailed map. "You and I will lead the agents on the day of the attack so you should study that." Jon said.

"Will this show us a way into his house?"

"Not only that but also the position of every guard on duty. Let me ask you a question Angel, will you do me the honors of killing the Mayor?"

"I don't know Jon, all this is new to me. I used to care for orphans, you can't just shove a gun in my hand and expect me to start killing people." I said, getting up to look around his huge place.

"I'm also hungry, got anything in store for me?"

"The only thing I have in store for you is that map you're holding so come and let me show you all the key plans."

I sighed, coming to sit beside him again. What did this guy like to do except for killing people.

"So," He started talking but I blanked out after the first word, my eyes re-directing to his large biceps in the fitted top.

I wondered what gripping them felt like during sex. The thought made me smile and bite my lip in lust. To be honest, I think it is normal for me to have these thoughts considering the last time I had sex was a year ago, and with my ex.

"What do you think Angel, will this work for you?" He asked, knocking me out of my daydream.

Fuck! What should I say to let him know I was listening?

"Um, yeah it will totally work!" I exclaimed in a high pitched voice. Jon noticed the panic in my voice.

"Tell me Angel, what will work?" He asked, throwing the question back at me. I stayed silent trying to think of something.

"This is bullshit Angel! What were you thinking about, rainbows and unicorns?" He shouted, getting up from his seat.

"Sorry Jon, I really find it hard paying attention when hungry."

A knock sounded at the door and whoever it was opened it without waiting for any permission. Luke walked in holding a bunch of plastic bags behind him.

"You're early." Jon said, walking up to meet him. "I got your text, what made you start eating fast food."

"It's not mine, Angel was hungry so I told you to get it for her."

I squealed in delight and snatched the food from Luke. To my satisfaction, there was a large burger, fries and chicken nuggets on the side along with ketchup.

"There's also a milkshake? Gosh, I love both of you!" I shrieked in happiness.

Both Luke and Jon stood there giving me weird faces until both of them started smiling.

"I guess food is now a way into a girl's heart, fuck the diamonds."

Hours passed in Jon's penthouse. I was now bundled on his couch watching a reality TV show while the two men were busy having a conversation on the balcony.

Thunder started roaring causing me to look outside. Moments later, it started raining wildly and a groan left my lips.

  I hate rainy days!

  "Angel."

Jon walked in with Luke, his white t-shirt slightly soaked, clinging to his large muscled form. What happened to him today? For the first time since I ever saw him he wasn't wearing black.

"Isn't it time to go home?" Jon asked. "Yes, but I don't want to. I don't like someone driving me in the rain."

Luke burst out laughing and I gave him a weird face. "Don't worry, I'll drive carefully, let's go." He assured.

"No Jon. I don't want to leave, not right now. Can I crash here for the night?" I asked meekly with fake puppy eyes not wanting to get off the couch. He sighed and nodded walking away with a frown.

Luke just dropped to the floor in laughter. "Why are you laughing so much? Is something funny about me staying here?"

"No Angel, don't worry. I was laughing at Jon." Jon's frown deepened when he returned with a water bottle from the fridge.

"I'm leaving, you better call and tell her not to come, pretty boy." Luke teased, walking out the door.

Tell her not to come? Wait, was he expecting a girl over? Oh shoot, that's why Luke was laughing like that. I couldn't help but feel a stabbing pain in my chest, was it jealousy? Thick silence engulfed the whole place as soon as Luke left. I turned to spot Jon making a phone call in a corner and it seemed that he didn't want me to hear any of it. He later finished his call and walked over to me.

"I didn't know you were expecting someone over Jon, I'm sorry that I stayed." I confessed, making an attempt to break the silence between us.

He sighed and moved over to sit beside me in the couch. I noticed he had changed into drier clothes.

  "Don't worry
about it." He dismissed, taking the remote from me.

"What do you think your friend is going to say about you not coming home today?" Jon asked, turning to face my direction.
